Simple but effective Oct 08, 2008
By Speargun I used this device to let me know when someone picked up another line. It works, but it could be better. When you place this in line with your handset, it will turn off the green light when another extension is picked up & you will not be able to hear anything unless you press & hold the red button. However, the person that you are talking to can still hear & whatever they say will be heard by who ever picked up the other line.
If you need it to monitor when another line is picked up, it does the job OK.
If you have two of these, one on each line, the first one picked up has priority & will disconnect the second line. This provides a bit more security as long as you don't need to switch to the other line during a call.
For use as a fax/modem guard, either setup will work depending on how many handsets you have.
All around I would have to say that this device does what it says it can do and is a less expensive alternative to some of the other devices on the market.
