Impractical, kind of a novelty Jan 02, 2009 By Autumn N. Empire
I bought this as a gift, and tried it out before passing it along. I discovered it was nearly impossible to actually focus on anything. The method of focusing the spyglass is a bit tricky: one must slide the telescopic eyepiece in or out, which is much more frustrating than, say, turning a dial at the end or something. Additionally, you have to have the steady hands of a surgeon to actually keep the thing from wobbling and shaking long enough to even try to get a bead on that fuzzy thing you must now attempt to focus upon. Luckily, my friend is a boat captain, with 2 kids who though this thing was a hoot. It's a novelty item, but very, very impractical. I gave this to the kids to play with (because I didn't want to deal with the return) and am looking into binoculars.
The vendor was average. Shipping was a bit slow, but the item was carefully packed.
